MERN Real-Time Chat & Calls
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I want to add a straightforward real-time communication layer to my existing MERN-stack social-network site. The goal is a working prototype—lean but functional—that delivers:
• One-to-one and group text chat
• One-to-one and group voice / video calls
• Full chat-history persistence in MongoDB (every conversation retrievable across devices)
The interface should feel minimalistic and clean to match the rest of our React frontend. I’m fine with Socket.IO for text channels and WebRTC (with STUN/TURN) for calls, provided everything plugs neatly into our Node/Express API and existing JWT auth flow.
Core deliverables:
1. Server-side socket and signalling code integrated into the current Node backend.
2. React components for chat windows and call modals, styled to our palette.
3. MongoDB schema and helper functions to save and fetch message history.
4. Simple README covering setup, environment variables, and deployment to our current VPS.
Focus on getting the essentials working; we can polish edge cases later.
