Inspirational Biography Ghostwriter Needed
Budget: $10,000 – $20,000 USD
I am seeking a ghostwriter or developmental collaborator for a memoir that explores childhood abuse, identity, music, obsessive thinking, solo travel, and family secrets through a darkly humorous and emotionally direct lens.
The memoir follows my life growing up in an unstable household shaped by addiction, poverty, domestic violence, stepfathers, and emotional neglect. In my twenties, I solo traveled to over 30 countries while trying to escape the effects of my childhood and understand who I was outside of survival mode. Throughout those years, I was also deeply involved in songwriting and unexpectedly found myself around successful musicians, producers, influencers, and celebrity-adjacent circles that felt worlds away from where I came from.
A major turning point in the story is discovering through a DNA test that the man I believed was my father was not biologically related to me. This was my mothers life longer secret she wanted to take to her grave. The memoir explores the emotional fallout of that discovery, reconnecting with biological family, and questioning identity, belonging, and memory itself. (This story later went viral on the internet connecting me with thousands across the world who experienced the same thing!)
The later portion of the book follows my transition into entrepreneurship, where I built a cleaning business that generated over six figures within its first few months. The business became an outlet for my OCD, perfectionism, and need for control after years of chaos and instability.
I want the tone of the memoir to feel incredibly raw, dark, honest, funny, uncomfortable, and deeply human — not polished into a generic inspirational story. Humor is a huge part of the voice, especially using absurdity and self-awareness to process trauma. I want the writing to feel cinematic, emotionally sharp, conversational, and relatable while still carrying heavier themes around abuse, reinvention, family dysfunction, and identity.
I am looking for someone experienced in memoirs, voice-driven storytelling, and emotionally complex narratives who can help strengthen structure, pacing, emotional cohesion, and the overall arc while preserving the personality and authenticity of the story. Looking for interviews we can do and guidance for this is my first book.
