Pediatric Cardiology Basics Lesson

I am assembling a classroom-ready session that gives first- and second-year medical students a firm grounding in pediatric cardiology. The single goal is understanding the basic concepts, so the material must stay focused and accessible while remaining clinically correct.
The lesson needs to open with normal heart anatomy and physiology from a pediatric standpoint, move into the most common congenital heart defects, and then show how beginner-level diagnostic tools and techniques—stethoscope findings, chest X-ray clues, introductory echocardiography views—fit into everyday practice. Smooth narrative flow, clear diagrams, and succinct explanations are essential; I want students to grasp the “why” behind each concept rather than memorizing trivia.
Deliverables
• Slide deck (or equivalent digital material) that fills a 45–60-minute session
• Brief instructor notes highlighting key talking points and transitions
• Five multiple-choice questions for a quick post-class check
