The Scenario
A new deadly version of COVID is winding its way though the world. The Australian government is wondering what to do, and thinks that reviewing the past clinical trials might hold the key for a current treatment.
You will take on the role of an expert reviewing clinical trial data for therapeutic approval of a treatment. You will read and interpret two clinical trial publications and provide an opinion on whether the treatment has clinical efficacy and (assuming the drug is safe) should be approved for use. To complete your report you will research and write an introduction to the disease and current treatments available, summarise the two clinical trials including your interpretation of whether the treatment was efficacious, justify your opinion with reference to the relevant data and elements of the clinical trials, and give a final recommendation.
