Wind tunnel theory/exp

Job ID: 37156574

Budget: £2 – £5 GBP

Project Title: Wind Tunnel Theory/Exp

Description:

* Design a suitable wind tunnel that contains a scaled model from the options below, in this case use a simplified model (basic polygons with volume). A uniform airflow supply 10 m/s take air properties to be atmospheric and sea level at 15c. You can use CFD software or parametric spreadsheets to help you optimize your design.
* Test the wind tunnel by measuring the velocity and pressure profiles at different locations along the duct. You can also compare your measurements with the theoretical values with literature, select appropriate formulae.
* Use the wind tunnel to test the aerodynamics of different models, such as a sphere, a cylinder, a wing, and a car by measuring/comparing the drag and lift forces acting on the models.

* Write a short report that summarizes your design and evaluation process, your test results, and your conclusions. You should include diagrams, graphs, tables, and calculations to support your arguments. You should also discuss the sources of error, uncertainty and limitations in your experiments and suggest possible improvements for future work.

Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of fluid mechanics and its application
- Expertise in theoretical understanding and analysis methods related to fluid mechanics
- Proficiency in both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and experimental fluid dynamics (EFD)
- Experience in conducting experiments and measurements in a wind tunnel setting
- Ability to analyze and interpret data obtained from wind tunnel experiments
- Familiarity with instrumentation and measurement techniques used in wind tunnel experiments

If you have a solid background in fluid mechanics and wind tunnel theory, and possess the necessary skills and experience to provide theoretical understanding and analysis methods, then this project is perfect for you.
