Rugged DFMA Device Design: IP67 Enclosure & Harness
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Description:
We need an experienced mechanical/product design engineer to design a manufacturing-ready (DFMA) IP67 enclosure and rugged external harness for a compact electronic device operating in dusty/humid environments, 0–50°C, and handled ruggedly.
1. Enclosure:
- Target IP67
- Approx internal usable size: 70 x 40 mm
- Power LED visible from outside (sealed lens/light pipe/window)
- External ON/OFF switch while maintaining IP67
- Robust internal retention for PCB + battery
2. Harness:
- 8 wires, approx 4 cm
- One side to PCB inside enclosure; other side external with: USB-C charger, DC male power plug, 2 LEDs
- Must withstand 10–20 connect/disconnect cycles per day
- Provide rugged PCB connector + strain relief + IP67 cable entry (gland/grommet/overmold)
3. Additional requirements: mechanical feedback on PCB design (connector placement, keep-outs, assembly, sealing).
4. Deliverables: CAD (native + STEP), BOM, drawings (as needed), harness pinout/wiring, assembly/sealing notes, DFMA notes, PCB feedback memo.
5. Mandatory with bid: portfolio of similar IP67/IP68 enclosures, 2 references, proposed sealing approach, timeline + fixed price (or hourly + estimated hours).
