Portable Farm Waste Shredder
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a complete engineering package for a mobile shredder that turns mixed vegetable waste into 3-5 cm pieces and then compacts it with a built-in hydraulic press. The machine must comfortably handle 50–200 kg of material per day and be light enough to move around the farm on a small trailer or skid.
Core requirements
• Cutting system sized for fibrous, high-moisture vegetable matter; knives or hammers should minimise clogging and be easily replaceable.
• Consistent particle size of 3–5 cm without excessive fines.
• Integrated hydraulic ram (manual, electric, or engine-driven—justify choice) that compresses the shredded output into manageable bales/blocks.
• Power options: single-phase 230 V, small diesel/petrol engine, or tractor PTO—show calculations for each and recommend the most practical.
• All components dimensioned for corrosion resistance and easy wash-down.
• Safety features that meet typical agricultural machinery standards (guards, emergency stop, relieve valves).
Deliverables
1. 3D CAD model (STEP or SolidWorks) and 2D fabrication drawings.
2. Bill of materials with suggested suppliers.
3. Motor/hydraulics sizing sheet, torque and force calculations, and basic FEA for critical shafts and press frame.
4. Assembly and maintenance guide with exploded diagrams.
5. Cost estimate to build one prototype and notes on scaling to small-batch production.
