Modeling the damage at the matrix-fiber interface in carbon fiber composites
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
the aim of this project is :The manufacturing of carbon fiber reinforced
polymers (CFRP) involve thermal strains that lead
to internal stresses. We aim to understand how the
thermal strains that arise from cooling from
manufacturing temperature to room temperature
affects the interfacial stress and damage.
Objectives:
1. Implementation of a continuum damage mechanics framework into a commercial finite element software.
2. Development of the structure of the composite model and define appropriate thermomechanical conditions.
3. To Investigate the influence of thermal histories on damage evolution in Matric-fiber interface in carbon fiber composite.
4. To Develop a 2D finite element model based on the dispersion parameters for the damage of matrix-fiber interface.
"Covers the background and aims of your project, including a critical review of relevant literature "
The content of the report should have:
Introduction 2-3 pages: Here talk about the need for materials informatics and the need for microstructure-property relations. Outline the aims and objectives.
The literature survey is 3000-5000 words - review of materials informatics, physics-based models, and modeling platforms.
Project plan 2-3 pages .
