Miniature Gravitational Wave Detector Development

I'm fascinated by physics and looking to create a miniature gravitational wave detector, inspired by LIGO/VIRGO.

The final project should be as close to an operational gravitational wave detector as possible, while keeping practicality and budget in mind.

Key Responsibilities:
- Guide me in understanding the basic principles behind gravitational wave detectors from LIGO/VIRGO
- Help me to design a scaled-down model that's as close as possible to the real thing
- Suggest and source appropriate materials for the build
- Assist in constructing and testing the detector
- Provide guidance on how to interpret the results of the tests

Ideal skills and experience for this project include:
- Strong understanding of physics and particularly the principles behind gravitational wave detectors
- Prior experience in building scientific instruments, especially those related to physics
- Strong communication skills to guide and teach me throughout the project
- Resourcefulness to keep the project within practical limits
