Mechanical Engineer to design & conduct experiment for documentary film
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
LionArt Media, a Milwaukee-based documentary production company, is seeking a freelance engineer to begin working immediately on a short-term contract.
We need someone with a background in physics to design and conduct a field experiment for us.
We are producing a documentary that is tied a social justice cause, and the experiment involves testing a key piece of evidence in a shooting case.
More specifically, we want to test the trajectory of a "blue gun" (a blue plastic replica of a handgun that's the same weight) when it's tossed against a chainlink fence at the crime scene. The gun's trajectory and where it landed (after bouncing off the fence) became central to the official version of events.
We want to recreate the "toss," taking into account different variables (eg, velocity, height, spin). Through a process of repetition, we wish to identify the likeliest probabilities of where the gun landed.
We are hoping to conduct this experiment in the field by the end of this month (August 2021).
We plan to film the experiment in Wisconsin. If you are local to the Chicago/Milwaukee area, that would be ideal. Otherwise, we are willing to adjust for travel costs if you’re based elsewhere. Payment will be make through Freelancer.
Pay will be based on the materials and number of hours required.
Please contact me immediately if you are interested.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
