Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Services for domestic house including Solar Heating
Budget: €18 – €36 EUR
I am renovating my home and need Engineering support to help me specify its Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Services. In particular I need someone with extensive experience implementing Solar Heating solutions (panels and batteries) in a house that is located in a southern European climate (lat 35 degrees N) or equivalent. The person should also have experience of implementing ground source heat pumps (vertical) and air conditioning as well as domestic passenger lifts.
The first stage of the project will involve doing a feasibility study so I can better understand the costs and benefits of the various options for heating and cooling. This will include providing preliminary plans for the ducting and service requirements as well as cooling / heating power requirement estimates for the building and swimming pool. The lift requirements will also be addressed.
Once the optimal option has been selected from the feasibility study you will need to provide advice about manufacturers and their products so that a request for tender can be created for local suppliers. You will advise me on the responses to these tenders so that a supplier(s) of specific products can be appointed. The plans for the ducting and services will then be revised.
You will also work with me to create plans for the electrical (power, light, control) and plumbing services . These plans will be used to create specification of the products needed and their quantities so that you can produce a request for tender for a local electrician and plumber contractor. Again you will advise me on the responses to these tenders so that appropriated contractors can be appointed.
You will provide calculations of the power requirements for the house both peak and average summer/winter so that I can arrange for any upgrade to the building supply. Attention will be taken to the role of batteries (in solar heating solution) in reducing peak supply.
During the implementation phase you will advise on the tests and checks that are needed to ensure high quality work. You will work with a local engineer to provide oversight of the project.
I would like to start by paying on a time and material basis but would consider agreeing a fixed price once the work is better understood. I am a Chartered Engineer myself, but do not have experience in this area.
