Mechanical Design Engineer for Industrial Automated UV Printing Machine

Job ID: 40238360

Budget: €12 – €18 EUR

Job Description

We are developing an industrial-grade automated vending machine for UV printing of custom phone cases, intended for installation in shopping malls and public commercial environments.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design the complete mechanical architecture of the system, including structure, internal layout, storage system, and printer integration.

This is not a hobby project. The goal is to build a robust, modular, and scalable commercial product.

you have some video demos in attachments as examples so you have an idea of what we want.

Project Overview

The machine must:

Store a minimum of 450 phone cases internally
Automatically select and transport the correct case
Integrate an industrial flatbed UV printer (commercial model)
Deliver the printed case safely to the customer
Operate continuously in a public environment

The first unit will be a market validation prototype, but the architecture must allow replication and scaling.

Key Mechanical Requirements

Modular design (2–3 transportable sections)
Compatible with public space installation constraints
Sheet metal enclosure preferred
Stable and anti-tip structure
Dedicated internal electrical compartment
Safe delivery system isolated from moving parts
Full sensor integration consideration (mechanical mounting points)

UV Printer Integration

We are currently evaluating three different industrial A5 flatbed UV printers (CE certified).

The final printer may not be defined at the beginning of mechanical development.

The design must:

Allow dimensional tolerance for different printer models
Include adjustable mounting system
Allow post-installation calibration of case landing position
Use mechanical positioning reference (corner alignment concept)

The system should not depend on complex vision alignment.

Deliverables

We expect:

Full 3D CAD design in FUSION 360
Complete mechanical layout
Bill of Materials (with European suppliers preferred)
Fabrication-ready drawings (DXF for sheet metal, etc.)
Assembly manual (clear and practical)

Construction Philosophy

Use standard commercial components whenever possible
Avoid complex CNC-only custom parts unless necessary
Prefer modular aluminum profile systems
Prefer suppliers in Europe (Motedis, Aluxprofile, Dold, etc.)
Design must be buildable internally (not factory-only manufacturing)

Regulatory Considerations

The design must consider compliance with:

EU Machinery Regulation (2023/1230)
Low Voltage Directive
EMC Directive

The integrated UV printer will already be CE certified.

Ideal Candidate
All project developed in AUTOFUSION 360
Experience in industrial machine design
Experience designing modular mechanical systems
Experience preparing BOM and manufacturing documentation
Knowledge of CE and machine safety principles
Practical mindset (design for fabrication, not just concept)
