Kinetic helix mechanism design

I have a project where I need some mechanical engineering assistance and design direction. Automation wise I have everything figured out. Concept drawings attached. My client hired an outside consultant to come up with a quick mechanical concept with a split ring gear design, but as you can see they did not factor in how it mates together and stays assembled. My idea was magnets and dowel pins for alignment, but would love an experts point of view. We are trying to use a nema 23 motor thats fully integrated which I can send that step file.
