Hydrokinetic Turbine Efficiency Improvement
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
For this project, I'm looking to significantly optimize the performance of a Savonius hydrokinetic turbine. The core objectives are:
- Increase the efficiency of the turbine, particularly by adjusting the blade thickness and observing its impact on the overall performance
- Reduce cavitation within the system through careful material selection and design refinements
- Experiment with different unidentified materials for the turbine blades to determine the best option.
I have a specific goal to increase energy generation, and thus, the ideal proponent for this task will be someone with an understanding of fluid mechanics and experience in optimization of hydrokinetic turbines. CAD design skills for blade prototyping and knowledge of material science will also be highly beneficial. Experience with experimental design and data analysis to quantify the impact of different blade designs and materials will be preferred.
