Heat Exchanger Analysis using Ansys
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Open-type metal foam is a porous medium with a solid metal matrix with empty or fluid-filled voids. A metal foam's number of pores per inch (PPI) ranges from 5 to 100, with probably a very high porosity (a), i.e., up to 0.98 or 0.99. Open-cell metal foams have high thermal conductivity, low relative density, and a large surface area. Therefore, metal foams are suitable for heat sink applications of electronic cooling. It can also be useful for automotive exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems and various heat exchanger applications.
In this project, a simulation of the different configurations of a compact heat exchanger; 1) Smooth channel (as a control condition), 2) Fin configuration and 3) Fin with Metal Foam configuration. The heat transfer performance and flow characteristics of the compact heat exchanger using a wind tunnel will be investigated via simulation
