Fractional Distillation Tower Design
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 NZD
I need a fractional distillation tower designed to separate chemicals by their boiling points, specifically for handling oil and petroleum products. The tower should have a capacity of up to 10,000 barrels per day.
Key requirements:
- Design must be suitable for oil and petroleum products
- Capacity of up to 10,000 barrels per day
- Must efficiently separate chemicals by boiling points
We require an experienced and qualified Chemical Engineer to design a fractional distillation tower with the following specifications and provide detailed working drawings:
* **Diameter:** 1.6 meters
* **Height:** 15 meters
The successful freelancer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
* **Process Design:** Develop the internal design of the tower, including the selection and sizing of appropriate trays or packing material to achieve the desired separation of pyrolysis plastic oil to diesel & gasoline while leaving the heavier oil behind and as well condensing off the lighter oils
* **Mechanical Design Considerations:** Ensure the design adheres to relevant safety standards and considers factors such as pressure ratings, temperature ranges, material compatibility, and structural integrity.
* **Working Drawings:**
Produce comprehensive and accurate working drawings suitable for fabrication. These drawings should include:
* General arrangement drawings
* Detailed drawings of the column shell, heads, and support structures
* Detailed drawings of internal components (trays/packing support, distributors, collectors, etc.)
* Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) related to the tower (connections, level indicators, temperature sensors, pressure gauges, etc.)
* Bill of materials (BOM)
* Welding details and specifications
* **Calculations and Simulations (if applicable):** Provide relevant calculations to support the design choices, including hydraulic calculations, vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data considerations, and any process simulations used.
* **Material Specifications:** Recommend appropriate materials of construction based on the process fluids and operating conditions.
* **Compliance and Standards:** Ensure the design adheres to relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API). Please specify which standards you will be following.
**Required Qualifications and Experience:**
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
* Proven experience in the design of fractional distillation towers. Please provide examples of similar projects.
* Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Aspen HYSYS, etc.). Please specify the software you utilize.
* Strong understanding of separation processes, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
* Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills to discuss design aspects and address any queries.
**Deliverables:**
* Complete set of working drawings in [**Specify preferred format - e.g., DWG, PDF**].
* Bill of materials (BOM) in [**Specify preferred format - e.g., Excel, CSV**].
* Design calculations and any simulation reports in [**Specify preferred format - e.g., PDF**].
* Material specifications document.
**To Apply:**
Please submit a proposal outlining your experience in designing fractional distillation towers, your proposed approach to this project, your estimated timeframe for completion, and your total cost. Please also include examples of your previous work, particularly working drawings for similar equipment.
