Key Responsibilities
Conceptual Design & 3D Modeling
Develop 3D models of mortuary equipment based on provided sketches, dimensions, or references.
Interpret design briefs, product functions, and ergonomic requirements for end-users (e.g., hospital staff, forensic teams).
Sheet Metal Part Design
Apply SolidWorks Sheet Metal tools to create flattened patterns, bends, hems, reliefs, etc.
Ensure sheet metal components are designed for bending, punching, welding, and laser cutting.
Assembly Design
Design modular and welded assemblies (e.g., body chambers with insulated doors, rails, internal racking).
Ensure proper fit, tolerance stack-up, and ease of fabrication.
Technical Drawing & BOM Generation
Create fully-dimensioned manufacturing drawings (DXF/DWG outputs for laser cutting, etc.).
Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) with material specs (e.g., SS304/SS316), gauges, hardware, and purchased parts.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Optimize designs to reduce waste, fabrication cost, and production complexity.
Suggest standard sheet sizes, folding methods, and weld joint preferences.
Thermal & Insulation Considerations (for mortuary chambers)
Design internal compartments with thermal insulation (PUF or equivalent).
Support layout for refrigeration units and airflow ducts.
Hygiene & Safety Compliance
Ensure designs allow for easy cleaning (e.g., minimal dirt traps, rounded corners).
Incorporate smooth welds, splash guards, and anti-rust finishes where needed.
Iterative Revisions & Support
Respond to feedback with quick iterations.
Support changes as per customer trials or prototype findings.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate with production heads, fabrication teams, or procurement if needed.
Attend online meetings to clarify requirements or demonstrate design intent.
Optional Add-on Skills
Experience with mortuary-specific products (body chambers, SS autopsy tables, sinks, etc.)
Knowledge of ventilation, drainage, and water flow systems in equipment.
CAM knowledge (e.g., nesting, CNC file prep) for small batch fabrication.
