Deformation Analysis in Ansys APDL- (2D model)

I need assistance with a structural analysis in ANSYS APDL, specifically focused on timber material behavior. The model is a 2D timber beam with two holes, pinned supports at both ends, and a concentrated load applied at midspan.

The APDL script is already written and functional, but I require help to:

Complete the code to capture the post-peak softening behavior (descending part of the load–displacement curve).

Implement a failure criterion based on maximum tensile strain in the bottom fiber near midspan.

The strain threshold is 4.8e-3.

The goal is to modify or extend the existing script so that the simulation accurately captures the drop in load after peak strength due to strain-driven failure.

I will provide the current APDL script. You’ll be expected to:

Identify and extract the strain at the critical location.

Output the load–displacement curve with the descending branch included.

Ideal skills and experience:
- Proficiency in Ansys APDL
- Experience with structural or mechanical analysis, specifically on timber
- understanding of material deformation and behavior.
