The work is to come up with an optimized design for a water-cooling assembly applied on a typical 3 story building with gypsum board as external wall. Aluminium composite panels are installed on the gypsum boards with a gap of 10mm to 250mm. The cooling system is supposed to provide a wetting surface to an area of 6 sq. m (2m x 3m) for two scenarios. One with a source of fire of 1500 kW occurring inside the ground floor at a height 1 m and the other with a fire source of 1000kW within the window opening located 1m above on the ground floor for a duration of 30 minutes. The ACP is cooled by the water from an aluminium pipe of length 2m and diameter 6mm at a height of 3m above the window opening on the ground floor on the surface of an ACP running horizontally. The other parameters for consideration are as follows:
1. The cooling surface is expected to limit the temperature to 300oC externally and 300oC at a height of 2m above the fire source for the two scenarios.
2. The horizontal aluminium pipe is provided with 0.9mm orifices throughout the length which are 75mm apart for wetting the ACP.
3. The tube will be connected to water source to achieve the required pressure and flow.
