Compact NFPA Powder Booth Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am upgrading Stage 3 of my finishing line and need a qualified engineer to redesign the powder-coat booth so it fits into a tight 6 ft × 6 ft × 8 ft footprint. The booth will remain open-fronted with left, right and rear walls plus a ceiling, yet it must fully comply with the relevant NFPA codes for combustible dust and spray applications.
My primary goal is to boost safety. The design must therefore integrate a dry-chemical fire-suppression system sized and located for reliable coverage of the entire spray envelope. Please ensure the layout allows for unobstructed operator access, clear egress, and straightforward maintenance of the suppression cylinders and detection controls.
Alongside the fire system, I expect you to account for proper air velocity through the opening, balanced exhaust and make-up air, and any grounding or electrical classification requirements that arise from NFPA 33 and 70. The surrounding area is already crowded with other process equipment, so duct routing and component placement need to be compact and service-friendly without compromising code clearance distances.
Deliverables:
• Stamped or professionally endorsed mechanical and electrical drawings (DWG/PDF) covering booth structure, airflow scheme, suppression piping, and control logic
• Bill of materials with specified fans, filters, dampers, and suppression hardware
• Brief compliance memo referencing the exact NFPA clauses met
• Installation guidance adequate for a local contractor to build and commission the booth
