CFD Simulation and Design Validation for Buffer Tank Compliance

Job ID: 38930334

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Project Description:
We are looking for an experienced CFD freelancer to work on a buffer tank simulation project. This task is designed to gauge your capabilities in solving complex mixing and heat transfer problems. If successful, we have additional buffer tank projects and a pipeline of CFD work in the future.

Objective:
The goal is to analyze the tank's performance and propose effective internal design modifications to achieve strict compliance with the following requirements:

Compliance: The outlet temperature must meet 14°C ± 1°C at 240 seconds.
Tank Parameters:
Adiabatic conditions: The tank is thermally insulated, with no heat gain or loss.
Dimensions: Tank diameter 3100mm, height 6100mm.
Pipe Orientation: Current inlet and outlet pipe orientation (90°) is fixed and cannot be changed.
Diffuser Pipes: Size fixed at 300DN.
Flow and Pressure:
Water flow rate fixed at 156.7L/s.
Pressure drop must remain below 0.05MPa.

Deliverables:
Validate the provided 3D model dimensions against the supplied drawings.
Analyze the performance of the tank under current conditions.
Propose and test effective internal adjustments (e.g., diffuser slot changes, flow restrictors, baffles) to control mixing and meet compliance.
Provide a detailed report summarizing the findings, methodology, and recommendations.

Additional Information:
The 3D model will be provided, but we need you to validate its dimensions.
We aim to achieve compliance within a single simulation run. If this is not achievable in a single run, please provide a clear explanation of the necessary iterative steps and their rationale

Incentive:
If you successfully meet the compliance requirements in one simulation or demonstrate strong capability in addressing the problem, we have another buffer tank project ready and a long-term pipeline of CFD work.
