Automated Self-Service Printing Kiosk Design

1. Purpose
The A-ROX machine is a self-service smart Xerox/printing kiosk for college and hospital campuses. Users upload and pay via an app, and the machine automatically prints, separates, and dispenses documents without staff intervention.
2. Core Functions
a.Printing
- Accepts queued jobs from backend.
- Supports black & white and color printing.
- Handles A4 sheets (primary).
b.Separation
- Each job should be separated either by a divider sheet (different size/color) or by directing prints into individual trays.
c.Bagging/Dispensing
- After printing, each job is stacked into a small tray/bagging system.
- Tray tilts or slides down into a paper bag/pouch for the user.
- Bags can be standard paper envelopes (low-cost).
d.Collection
- Once bagged, the system dispenses the job through a pickup hatch with a security flap (to prevent others from grabbing multiple jobs).
e.Admin Features
- Easy refill access for paper, ink, and bags.
- Clear access panels for maintenance.
3. Mechanical Design Guidelines
- Form factor: Should resemble a modern kiosk, about 4–5 feet tall, narrow enough to fit in hallways.
- Paper path: Printer integrated at the top; printed sheets fall into an automated bagging tray carousel.
- Tray system: Rotating or sliding tray with capacity for multiple jobs at once. After each job, tray tilts to drop into bag → sealed/pouched → pushed forward.
4. Aesthetic & Branding
- Colors: Matte black & white theme (minimal, premium look).
- Branding: “A-ROX” logo illuminated on the front panel.
- UI panel: Small touchscreen or QR scanner area for users who prefer walk-up access (future ready).
- Lighting: Subtle LED indicator lights (green = ready, red = busy, blue = bagging).
