Robotics Mechanical Design Consultant
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am developing a new line of robotics and industrial-automation products and need a seasoned mechanical designer to turn early concepts into production-ready hardware. You will own the mechanical side of the project from first sketch through validated prototype, working closely with my electronics and firmware teams so that every PCB, sensor, motor and cable routes cleanly inside the enclosure you create.
Day-to-day you will model assemblies in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, run tolerance studies, choose materials that balance strength, weight and cost, and prepare manufacturing drawings that a sheet-metal shop, CNC machinist, injection-molder or 3-D printer can pick up without questions. DFM and DFA thinking must guide every decision; I expect you to call out risks early, suggest simpler fastening strategies, and propose geometry that speeds assembly on the factory line.
Deliverables I need from you
• Fully-parametric 3-D CAD models of each mechanism and enclosure
• Detailed 2-D drawings with critical tolerances, surface finishes and callouts
• A concise BOM showing material specs and off-the-shelf components
• Design review notes highlighting engineering assumptions and open issues
• Prototype validation report once first articles are built, including any revisions required before release
