Need Motorized Gear Design and Enclosure
Budget: ₹5,000 – ₹8,000 INR
Mechanical Design Engineer Required – Compact Motorized Gear Assembly & Enclosure Design
Project Description:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design a compact mechanical assembly and enclosure that houses a motor-driven gear mechanism along with associated mechanical components.
The scope of work is strictly limited to mechanical design, casing design, and internal assembly layout. The functional application of the device will be disclosed only after NDA, and no domain-specific assumptions are required from the designer.
Key Design Requirements:
Design a compact enclosure (casing) with the following maximum external dimensions:
Maximum Diameter: 100 mm
Maximum Length: 150 mm
The enclosure must internally accommodate:
A small DC motor
A multi-stage gear reduction mechanism
A lead screw or equivalent linear/rotary transmission mechanism
Shafts, bearings, couplings, and mounting features
Provision for torque transmission to an external spindle/shaft
The mechanical system should be designed to deliver low-speed, controlled rotational output with moderate torque, suitable for precision adjustment applications.
Critical Mechanical Expectations:
Compact, coaxial or space-efficient layout preferred
Proper bearing support for rotating and axial loads
Maintainability and assembly-friendly design
Mechanical robustness and smooth operation
Tolerance-aware design suitable for machining or industrial fabrication
Electronics & IoT Provisioning (Important):
Although electronics design is NOT part of this project, the enclosure and internal layout must provide sufficient space and mounting provisions for future integration of:
Control PCB(s)
Motor driver circuitry
Sensors or feedback devices (e.g., encoders, limit switches)
Wiring routes and cable exits
Possible future IoT / communication modules
The electronics area should be mechanically isolated from the primary mechanical drive components wherever practical.
Deliverables:
3D CAD models of:
Enclosure / casing
Internal mechanical components
Full assembly
2D manufacturing drawings with dimensions and tolerances
Exploded assembly view
Basic Bill of Materials (mechanical components only)
Assembly notes / recommendations
(Preferred CAD formats: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or equivalent)
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong experience in mechanical product design
Hands-on experience with:
Gear trains
Lead screws / motion transmission
Compact mechanical assemblies
Experience designing enclosures with internal component stacking
Understanding of manufacturability (CNC / turning / milling / casting)
Ability to work with strict dimensional constraints
Nice to Have (Optional):
Experience designing compact electromechanical products
Familiarity with actuator or drive mechanisms
Experience designing products that later integrate electronics
Confidentiality:
This project requires discretion.
The detailed application and operational context will be shared only after project award and, if required, under NDA.
How to Apply:
Please include:
Relevant past projects (especially compact mechanical or actuator designs)
CAD samples or screenshots (if available)
Your preferred CAD software
Estimated timeline to deliver the first design iteration
