High-Density DMS-60 Breakout PCB

Job ID: 40523135

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

Job Title:
PCB Design: High-Density DMS-60 (4x15 Straight Matrix, 1.27mm Pitch) to Standard 2.54mm Breakout Board
Job Description & Scope of Work:
We are looking for an experienced PCB layout designer to create fabrication-ready files (Gerber package) for a custom pitch adapter breakout board.
The primary objective of this board is to act as a physical bridge, adapting a high-density rectangular connector down to standard, user-friendly male pin headers for solderless prototyping.
1. High-Density Input Connector Specifications:
Connector Type: LFH / DMS 60-Pin Female Socket.
Physical Geometry: Straight, clean rectangular matrix. It consists of exactly 4 parallel rows, with 15 female holes per row (4x15 Grid). It is NOT a staggered or D-sub shaped connector.
Pin Pitch Constraint: The pitch between pins is exactly 1.27mm (0.05 inches) both horizontally (pitch) and vertically (row spacing).
2. Standard Output Header Specifications:
Connector Type: Standard Male Pin Headers.
Total Pin Count: Exactly 60 pins total.
Configuration: Split logically into two (2) separate single-row headers, with 30 pins each (or optimized based on fanning constraints).
Pin Pitch Constraint: Must adhere strictly to the standard 2.54mm (0.1 inches) pitch, fully compatible with standard breadboard jumpers and screw terminal blocks.
3. Trace Routing & Mapping Requirements:
Netlist Mapping: Straightforward 1:1 mapping from the 60 pins of the dense matrix to the 60 pins of the standard output headers.
Trace Topology: Clean, parallel fanning out of the 60 traces. Avoid 90-degree trace angles; use 45-degree or smooth routing geometry to ensure neat trace distribution and clear isolation.
Layer Constraint: Single-sided component placement. All components (the DMS-60 socket and the 2.54mm headers) must be mounted on the Top Layer, with routing optimized cleanly.
4. Mechanical Constraints:
Board Dimensions: Must be kept as compact and efficient as possible while fully respecting standard clearance and trace widths.
Mounting: Include at least two (2) M3-sized mounting holes at the corners for mechanical stabilization inside an enclosure.
Required Deliverables:
1. Complete Gerber RS-274X file package (including copper, solder mask, and clear silkscreen labeling for Pin 1 and header groupings).
2. Excellon Drill files.
3. Bill of Materials (BOM) with a verified manufacturer part number for the correct 4x15, 1.27mm pitch female receptacle.
4. Pick and Place (CPL) file.
5. 3D STEP model of the finalized PCB assembly.

Important Mechanical Dimension Update:
Please note the exact footprint dimensions for the LFH/DMS-60 female connector mounting area (as shown highlighted in the attached image):

Total Interface Width: Exactly 23.12 mm

Total Interface Length (Depth): Exactly 9.2 mm

The custom PCB breakout board must be designed so that the connector fits precisely within this 23.12 mm x 9.2 mm area at the input zone to ensure a perfect mechanical flush fit."

Layout & Placement Constraint for the 2.54mm Headers:

Positioning: Both of the 30-pin (2.54mm pitch) male headers must be strictly placed at the Top Front edge of the PCB layout.

Accessibility: This placement is mandatory to ensure clear, unobstructed vertical access for plugging in female rainbow flat cable connectors from above, with no components or high-density housing blocking the wire path.
