Develop a detailed mechanical design for a product from our concept design
Budget: $750 – $1,500 AUD
The project is to take a concept industrial design (which we already have) for a product and produce a detailed mechanical design from this concept. The detailed mechanical design is required to be delivered to a level where it can be passed onto an injection molding tool maker, so it can be manufactured.
We are an Australian company who sell electrical accessory products to electricians. We have product designers and mechanical engineers in our team, but we have many projects and not enough people to take on this mechanical design at the moment.
The product is called a ‘pendant outlet’. It an electrical power socket which is typically used above work benches in factories, commercial kitchens, and similar applications. It is usually hung on a chain and it provides power for electrical tools which plug in the product. The interior of the product incorporates two ‘sub-products’ which already exist. 3D CAD files for these will be provided by us for integration into the design.
We have a similar product on the market at the moment. However, the design is old, and we want to update the product outlook. We are also taking the opportunity to improve the product.
The concept design is available as a detailed 3D STEP file which was created by us in Shapr3D. No Parasolid file is available. We already know the concept design cannot be easily manufactured. It requires a mechanical designer with detailed knowledge and experience of how plastic parts are manufactured via injection molding to create a mechanical design from our concept. As much as possible, we want to keep the general appearance and design philosophy of the concept.
