Fantasy-Inspired Realistic Umbrella Design

Job ID: 40468581

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Looking for an artist skilled in material illusion, believable textures, and atmospheric/magical realism. We are developing a fantasy-inspired umbrella brand for Ren Faire, gothic, fantasy, and historical-inspired communities. This will NOT be traditional character art or graphic design.

The goal is to create umbrella canopy designs that feel like real, tactile materials from a fantasy world, rather than flat printed graphics. We are starting with one test concept: “Traveler’s Canvas/Linen”.
This design should feel like:
-aged canvas or linen fabric
-visible stitching, repairs, and patchwork
-subtle wear, fading, and weathering
-threadbare or imperfect areas
-believable material depth and texture
The surface is physically flat so the artwork must use lighting, shading, and texture techniques to create the illusion of dimensional, worn material.

Style direction:
Looking for work that is immersive, atmospheric, understated, grounded fantasy, realistic in texture, and subtle rather than graphic or bold
Not looking for anime style art, cartoon or stylized illustration, character-focused work, logo or graphic design, overly polished fantasy concept art, or highly saturated visuals.

Ideal experience includes: environmental art, texture painting, matte painting, prop or surface design, magical realism, cinematic concept art, game environment textures, and/or understand print constraints while achieving design goals.

This is a paid test project for a single design with the potential for ongoing collaboration if it’s a good fit.
