• L-band, carrier 1.3 GHz, range resolution 50 m.
• Azimuth scan sector 90◦, Elevation scan sector from horizon to 60◦, revisit time of 10 s with at least
10 hits per target per scan.
• System loss 7 dB and receiver noise figure 4.3 dB, operating temperature 300 K.
Use Matlab’s radarDesigner to simulate the performance of this radar. Start this tool from the command
line and open a new session for “Airport Radar”. You will need to enter the appropriate parameters.
Briefly explain any choices or assumptions you make in setting these.
Use the tool to explore the detection curves (Pd vs range) for a target with RCS of 10m^2. Assume the
target’s elevation angle is 30◦. Present the detection curves for:
1. False alarm probability of 10e−3 and 10e−6
2. with and without CFAR
