Vehicle plate detection
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
Due to the complexity of the parking rules in the UK, the City Council usually needs to spend a lot of human resources to inspect vehicles that break the parking rules (overtime/area restrictions) in the city.
This project will develop a parking violation detection algorithm that relies on vehicle plate detection. The algorithm can identify the plate of a vehicle parked on the roadside, record the corresponding time and location information, and match it with the data in the database to detect whether the vehicle violates the regulations. The ultimate expectation of the algorithm is to run on an officer's vehicle. Officers can drive vehicles to inspect vehicles in the area. In this project, students are mainly expected to develop algorithms for recognising the plates of vehicles parked on the roadside. Other functions are optional.
The data sets used in the project (camera, timestamp, GPS positioning synchronisation data) will be provided by me. Knowledge of Matlab for image processing is required for this project.
