Visible light communication (VLC) is one of the most disruptive wireless techniques for super-rapid
information exchanges in the next generation communication networks. This project will design and
prototype a VLC system based on the platform OpenVLC (http://www.openvlc.org/), which is an open source, flexible and low-cost VLC platform. A major objective of this project is to understand how a pair of
outdoor VLC transmitter and receiver should adapt in order to accommodate different modulation
schemes and weather conditions. Towards this objective, the following two areas will be optimized:
Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) and Constellation Shaping.
