Run Simulink Model programmatically in Matlab 2015a while utilizing the fast restart function

I understand that from Matlab 2015b, it is possible to run a Simulink model programmatically while utilizing the fast restart function by simply writing something like set_param(model,'FastRestart','on') or sim(model,'FastRestart','on'). However, in older versions such as Matlab 2015a, the fast restart function can not be used directly when simulating programmatically.
My request:
I would like to be able to programmatically run Simulink models in Matlab 2015a while utilizing the fast restart function in a similar style as in 2015b. I think it is possible to do so by customizing some Matlab codes.
