Performance RF Reciever Design and Simulation (MATLAB)

Job ID: 30854292

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I'm looking for an RF engineer to design a high performance RF receiver. The end product will be a commercially available radar detector, able to warn drivers of upcoming speed traps. Competitive advantage will be tied into the electrical performance, so it must be able to outperform all products on the market.

The objective of this to produce an approach that meets all performance requirements. A system block diagram will be required for 2 different designs, including descriptions of both hardware and software. Once one of the approaches is approved, I will need a Matlab simulation performed to ensure that the design will meet all requirements. Test criteria will be supplied after one of the designs has been approved.

Design criteria include: (a) Must include phased array antennae. Location of the emitting RF source is required (b) RF spectrum in k, ka, ku bands (c) software must be able to accurately and reliability identify correctly RF source from noisy environment (d) Must be able to identify accuractely and reliability speed detection from other RF sources transmitting at the same or nearly the same frequency (e) Must be able to detect accurately and reliably RF speed detection signal when antidection technology is used (ie, frequency hopping, etc) as opposed to assuming that RF transmit signal is only a pulse train (f) High sensitivity. Must be able to sense and location RF source within 5 miles with no false alarms (g) Design for low cost. Due to the complexity, I understand and expect the design to cost more than a traditional design. However, designing for components over $100 each will not work (ie, $1000 FPGA or $5,000 dollar receivers would not be acceptable).
