High Voltage Power Transmission Electrical Engineering
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
The city council just hired you as a new lead electrical engineer. They requested you to design a new 500MVA transmission line connecting Melbourne to Hobart. Some brief requirements are given;
- Voltage regulation 10% max
- Efficiency 95% min
1. List 5 possible reasons why they want to do so. Explain your reasons.
2. Design an AC transmission line that meets the requirements. Explain the technical and economic reasons behind your design.
3. In reality, a mixed AC and DC transmission line is used. Seek the information and explain why.
4. Redesign based on a realistic scenario (mixed AC and DC). Compare with the previous design.
Use MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, Inkscape
Include a 20-page Formal Report based on the correct methodology using suitable/acceptable models and techniques for each question (how it is interpreted, usage of technical language, application of models).
