Fill a box in Matlab

I have a 3D model (step o stl file) and a box defined by a,b,c sizes. I need a script in Matlab (any other language can be considered) that puts the 3D model in the middle of the box and fills the volume with smaller boxes. The output will be a vector with these boxes and their sizes. Write mela in your reply to demostrate you have at least read this.
The model has no cylindrical surfaces or holes.
