Export x,y,z points in wire frame format from .stl(stereolithography) files in matlab

After importing a .stl file in Matlab with importGeometries function I would like to export from this object all the central points in a wireframe format. For example, say that I import a cable as an stl file that has a certain diameter and a complicated shape with twists, etc. I would like to create a script that can extract a line of x,y,z points that is along the cables ''center of mass''
