Develop a PV maintenance indication and theft protection system

I'm running a PV system and I'm required to develop an algorithm for PV maintenance indication and theft protection. Any idea I can easily deploy is welcome. I don't want to add any other code to my project other than Arduino and Matlab coz i will still have to develop a real-time fusion sensor algorithm.
