Deriving a canonical equation

Hello,
The task consists of deriving a canonical equation in a journal paper (equation 26 in the file attached).
The journal paper briefly describes how this equation was found from its general form, but do not give details of its derivation.
The derivation will have to be done using Wolfram Mathematica, and explained.
A mathematica file with a first attempt could be sent if needed.
A good knowledge of mathematica and maybe of taylor series is needed.
