Bus power system

Job ID: 35364836

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

1. Convert the system data to per unit on a 100MVA base. Use the generator 1 voltage as the voltage base. Present your results in a table.
2. Construct a Ybus matrix for the system..
3. Enter the system data into Powerworld or MATLAB. Set your slack bus as Bus 1, and
set the angle to be -30 degrees.
4. Solve the power flow problem, and compare your results to the table given below.
Treat this as your base case system. Display the same data fields for all subsequence
power flow results.
5. Compare the Ybus matrix from Powerworld with the one you calculated above.
6. Lower Pgen2 to 0.7 pu. Try lowering it to 0.5 per unit. What do you think would
happen if th generator was taken off line. Comment on your results especially the
voltage magnitudes and the total losses.
7. Explain what would be different if you simply set Pgen2 = 0 in the simulation and how
this will impact the results.
8. Starting from the initial operating condition of part 1., change the voltage setpoints of
generator 1 in 0.1 pu steps until all of the bus voltages are greater than 0.95 pu and list
the power flow results.
9. Starting from the initial operating condition of part 1, add a shunt capacitor at BUS 3
and determine the MVAR rating to bring all of the bus voltages up to at least 0.95 pu.
What is the actual MVAR the capacitor supplies. List your power flow results.
10. Repeat part 9 with the capacitor instead added at BUS 4. Which case requires a least
MVAR rating for the capacitor? List your power flow results.
