Refrigeration Systems (RS) are used for maintaining temperatures on the shrouds by circulation of regulated nitrogen through them. The shrouds for the said application are placed inside a vacuum chamber and are expected to handle radiative heat load of the order of few kWs. These RSs are equipped with controls for setting the shroud temperature and rate of achieving that temperature. A gaseous nitrogen duty RS is expected to be able to achieve temperature limits from -1500C to +1000C and rates upto 50 C/ minute on the shroud. The shroud usually is 25 kg/m2 made up of stainless steel arranged in different configuration of area and shape depending on the size of the vacuum chamber.
