statistical analysis, simulations and probability

Hi,

I hope this finds you well and Happy Christmas !

I am looking to run an online tournament where users enter and pick the results of 10 sporting games (win, lose or draw).

The rankings of the entries will be based on the total winning percentages of their 10 picks. Entries with tied winning percentages will then be ranked on the total goals difference (Goals for the team selected minus the goals they conceded - for draws the goal difference will be the total goals scored as a positive). In the event users have the same winning percentage and goals difference, the tie breaker will be based on tournament entry (the earlier the entry the higher the ranking).

I am looking to run some sort of simulation/probability analysis to see the likelihood of entries having the same winning percentages and goals difference. Since bookmakers show odds for the games I was hoping to leverage this to run the likelihood of users selections ? As many users may pick similar teams, for example strong favorites playing big underdogs.

I would like to see the likelihood of tied entries and goals difference based on a number of entries, is this something that can be done ?

Thanks for your time.

Tom
