Statement of understanding for math eucators
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need to create a statement of understanding for understanding math. I am a teacher in training. I know math but how to put these into words is hard.
Statement of Understanding indicates knowledge and appreciation of:
Common Core and State Standards
Elementary Curriculum
Content and Pedagogy
Problem Solving
Reasoning, Communication and Connections
Number and Operations
Algebra
Geometry and Measurement
Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability
Assessment of Mathematical Understanding
The statement reflects quality of writing: Examples are used to demonstrate ideas, coherent and well organized, no misspellings and grammar errors
From rubric:
You should discuss what you understand about the teaching and learning of mathematics at the elementary (k-8) level.
You might direct it to an imaginary principal, or a future elementary teacher. It should tell what you know about what a teacher should know about math, the k-8 curriculum, and teaching math.
It should include what you might tell prospective teachers they should know about standards, the important concepts taught in the elementary curriculum, how to help all students learn math, how to connect math to the student’s world, and how to assess student understanding.
It should encompass all the rubric items and demonstrate you know how to help elementary students learn and understand mathematics.
