Consultant for compact shock absorbers & material support
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m finishing a custom door project. I don’t need manufacturing — I need an expert to help finalize the specs, recommend materials, and find suppliers.
Main priorities (in order):
Shock absorbers (2 units in parallel):
• Total length: 86–90 mm max (space is very limited)
• Together must handle about 50 lbs (~22–25 J) initial slam impact
• Critical: after the first impact, resistance should drop to minimal so the door closes smoothly
• Thread M12 × 1.0 preferred
Base (mounting part):
• Around 4 mm thick
• Supports the assembly (not taking direct impact)
• Considering Stainless Steel 304, but open to cheaper strong alternatives
Impact plate:
• Rectangular, 3–4 mm thick, takes the hit
• Must not bend with repeated impacts
• Thinking Stainless Steel 304, open to treated carbon steel
• Needs a small pad/buffer (rubber, nylon, PU, etc.) to reduce noise
Also need help with component selection, supplier research, and material recommendation.
