I need help tracking down a reliable first car for a brand-new driver in London and the neighbouring counties. Used vehicles are the target, and price is the key factor—please show me options that genuinely beat typical forecourt figures without sacrificing safety or maintenance history.
While Ford, Toyota and Honda are my usual go-tos, I’m open to any make if it’s a solid deal. I’d like you to search dealer lots, classifieds, auctions and trusted private listings, then present only the cars that tick these boxes:
• Fully road-worthy with clear HPI / title
• Documented service history and MOT up to date
• Realistic running costs (insurance group, tax band, fuel economy)
• Purchase price that represents obvious value for money compared with similar models on Autotrader or Parkers
