Remote Product Researcher - Food & Beverage - VIET NAM
Budget: $2 – $8 USD
Product Scout / Researcher (Food & Beverage)
Mostly Remote | Limited Local Day Travel | High-Growth Opportunity
About Us
We’re a rapidly growing, tech-forward trading and logistics company operating at the intersection of food, data, and global supply chains. As we expand into new categories, markets, and commercial models, accurate market intelligence has become a strategic advantage — not a nice-to-have.
That’s where this role comes in.
We’re looking for a Product Scout / Researcher (Food & Beverage) who is naturally curious, highly structured, and energised by discovery. This role is critical to how we understand the food & beverage landscape — from established brands to emerging micro-brands that haven’t yet hit the mainstream.
If you enjoy independent research, fieldwork, structured data, and building clarity from complexity, this role offers a powerful foundation — with clear pathways into category strategy, sourcing, commercial, or product roles as we grow.
The Role
As a Product Scout / Researcher, you will systematically map the food & beverage market to give the business clear, current, and validated visibility into what exists, where it’s sold, and how it’s positioned.
This is not just reading blogs or casual Googling — it’s disciplined, repeatable research that feeds real commercial decisions.
You’ll work mostly from home, with occasional local day trips to supermarkets, wholesalers, and specialty retailers for in-field audits.
Key Responsibilities
Drawing directly from our internal research frameworks and role definition , you will:
· Define food & beverage categories, sub-categories, formats, and inclusion criteria before research begins
· Conduct systematic retail audits across supermarkets, convenience stores, discount retailers, wholesalers, and specialty/ethnic outlets
· Research online supermarkets, marketplaces, grocery delivery platforms, and DTC brands
· Identify established, emerging, regional, and online-first brands
· Validate brands using manufacturer registries, regulatory data, distributors, and trade associations
· Monitor trade shows, exhibitor lists, and pre-retail launches
· Track import/export and trade flow signals where relevant
· Identify early-stage and micro-brands through digital and social channels
· Deduplicate and normalise product and brand data across formats, flavours, and packaging
· Maintain clean, structured brand records with source traceability
· Review and refresh coverage on a recurring basis to keep data current
How You’ll Work
· Mostly remote / work from home
· Occasional local day travel only (no overnight travel)
· High autonomy with clear research frameworks and expectations
· Supported by modern tools including structured documents, PIM systems, spreadsheets, and AI-assisted research workflows
What You Need (Practical Requirements)
· Your own laptop
· Mobile phone
· Reliable high-speed internet
That’s it — we care far more about how you think and work than where you sit.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for someone with 1–3 years of experience in a relevant role such as product research, market research, category analysis, retail analysis, sourcing support, or food & beverage operations.
You’re likely to thrive here if you are:
· Self-motivated & disciplined – You manage your time well and don’t need constant oversight
· Exceptionally detail-oriented – You notice inconsistencies, duplicates, and missing data others miss
· Structured in your thinking – You prefer clear frameworks over ad-hoc work
· Naturally curious – You enjoy figuring out what exists beyond the obvious
· Comfortable working independently – But happy to collaborate and share findings clearly
· Confident in the field – Visiting stores, wholesalers, and retailers doesn’t faze you
· Digitally fluent – You can navigate e-commerce platforms, online catalogues, and digital tools with ease
· Commercially aware – You can distinguish between what’s strategically relevant and what’s just noise
Experience in food, beverage, FMCG, retail, sourcing, or trade environments is highly advantageous, but mindset matters more than pedigree.
Growth & Career Path
This role is intentionally designed as a launchpad.
As we scale, high performers can grow into:
· Category or Portfolio Strategy roles
· Sourcing & Procurement
· Commercial & Market Intelligence
· Product Development & Innovation support
· Cross-functional operational roles within our trading and logistics ecosystem
You’ll gain deep category knowledge, market visibility, and commercial context — skills that compound quickly in a growing organisation.
Why Join Us
· Be part of a fast-growing, ambitious company building long-term capability
· Work with real responsibility and trust, not micromanagement
· Build expertise that directly influences strategic decisions
· Flexible, remote-first working model
· Clear expectations, structured onboarding, and room to evolve your career
If you’re excited by food, research, structure, and growth — and you want your work to actually matter — we’d love to hear from you.
