I need a marine engineer
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
Hi,
I have a boat in Sovereign Harbour (Nimbus 310 Coupe). We were on route from Chichester Marina to Limehouse in London but it developed some faults along the way. In the end we decided to berth it there until these could be resolved. I am currently now paying for both a berth at Limehouse and Sovereign which isn’t ideal and would like to get it resolved as soon as possible. These are the identified major items:
Electrical:
• VHF not working (only sending but no receiving).
• AIS not working
• When the throttle is put into reverse the bow thruster kicks in. This some sometimes be disengaged by wiggling the thruster suggesting possibly faulty connection in the thruster handle.
• Autopilot not working.
• Stern thruster is not kicking in.
Mechanical:
• Fuel return pipe from injectors is split and needs to be replaced. Fuel and oil in the bilge and on top of engine, needs to be properly cleaned out.
• Possible leaking injector?
• Turbo was ceased due to internal corrosion, this was freed up by an engineer to make the journey and was running initially but later developed a fault. This fault consisted of the turbo suddenly kicking in at high revs particularly when the boat hit high waves and jolts. Maybe still some catching on the turbo splines?
• Collapsed exhaust pipe that needs replacing.
• Probably an engine service would be a good idea as it has been left idle for about 2 years.
Which of these items would you be able to deal with within your services and what is your availability please?
Kind Regards
David Edwards
