VMC/HMC Cycle Time Estimation
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
I’m preparing production for a cast-iron wing part and I need an accurate estimate of how long it will take to machine one piece on both a vertical machining center (VMC) and a horizontal machining center (HMC).
The job revolves around four specific operations on each machine:
• Milling
• Drilling
• Facing
• Boring
Standard-precision tolerances are all that’s required, so there’s no need to over-engineer the numbers—just realistic, shop-floor figures that I can rely on for planning and costing.
What I expect from you:
1. A clear breakdown of cycle time per operation on the VMC.
2. The same breakdown for the HMC.
3. A short explanation of the assumptions you used: tool paths, spindle speeds, feeds, tool changes, and any part-handling time you included.
If you use software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, Vericut, or in-house spreadsheets, that’s fine—just note it in the explanation so I can follow the logic.
The deliverable can be a concise PDF or spreadsheet; the critical point is that the numbers be defensible and easy to adjust later if we tweak speeds or tools.
