Small Surf Handboard Production
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I’m ready to move my foam handboard from prototype to market and need a manufacturing partner who can deliver a first run of roughly 100–500 units. I have a working prototype plus complete CAD drawings, so the design phase is done—now it’s all about reliable production.
Key points
• Construction: lightweight foam core with a high-gloss film laminated to the bottom face.
• Quantity: initial batch between 100 and 500 units.
• Location: I have no preference between local or overseas facilities as long as quality and timelines are met.
• Materials: I’ll need help sourcing the right foam density and a durable gloss film; suggestions on cost-effective suppliers are welcome.
• Finish & QC: consistent shaping, clean lamination, and a blemish-free gloss finish are critical.
• Packaging & freight: advice on protective packaging and shipping options to Australia will be a plus.
In your reply, please outline:
1. Your experience with small-run board or foam product manufacturing.
2. The machinery/process you’d use for shaping, lamination, and curing.
3. Typical lead times for tooling, sampling, and full production.
4. Estimated per-unit cost breakdown (materials, labour, finishing, packaging).
5. Any minimum order constraints or suggestions that could optimise cost without compromising quality.
I’m aiming to build an ongoing relationship, so clear communication and precise workmanship are essential. Let’s bring this handboard to life.
