putt putt boat engine

Job ID: 35759842

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Putt putt boats are a simple toy that employs the use of a steam engine, with no moving parts to propel the boat forward in the water. One can find many examples of putt putt boats on YouTube. Commercially available boats all have the same type of putt putt engine, individually made by hand in such places as India. Those engines generally work well and they're inexpensive ($0.50 each +shipping costs), but they're unattractive, the soldered seals can fail if they're overheated and obtaining them from overseas may be unreliable. Additionally, for my purposes, the tubes need to be bent in order to be installed in the boat I have designed. The tubes of of the engines I have purchased don't bend easily or consistently so I have ruined quite a few engines.
I need an engine design that can be mass produced, consistently and reliably. Rather than sealing the engine with solder, I believe that a good seal can be obtained by crimping the edges together in the same way that a metal can's top and side walls are sealed together. I would like to be in touch with you if you're interested to help me design a putt putt motor that's inexpensive, works consistently, has good power, is attractive in appearance and works well with my boat designs.
