This activity is designed to help you to begin the process of generating an in-depth understanding of a particular theoretical perspective within the context of a particular theoretical domain. Each student will select a theory from the organizational development/organizational theory domains. The theory choice must be approved by the professor. A suggested list of theories will be provided on blackboard as well as a list of those theories that are not allowed for the purposes of this assignment.
The student will develop a white paper (short but descriptive/detailed paper) focused on the theory of choice. The paper must contain the following at minimum:
Cover Page/APA style
Name(s) of the theory.
Prominent theorist(s).
Primary tenants/assumptions/arguments of the theory.
General description/your discussion and analysis of the theory.
Additional pertinent information that you find relevant.
Connections to other similar or complementary theories.
Key usages of the theory in practice, historically and/or current.
Discussion of viability within the public organizational context. (why does it fit, or why not?)
Reference page with minimum of 5 peer reviewed/refereed resources/sources.
This paper has a variable length, as in there is no maximum. It would be improbably that this assignment could be completed in less than 5 pages. Typically they run 5-10 pages.
To achieve a successful outcome, you are expected to meet the following requirements:
APA formatting: Resources and citations should be formatted according to APA (6th Edition) style and formatting.
Length of paper: (on average) 5-10 typed double-spaced pages.
Font and font size: Times/Times New Roman, 12 point.
