Help with Mailchimp customization and Integration

We have MailChimp integrated with our squarespace website, where we collect emails before a client downloads the presentation.
We only allow if they subscribe with email, but if a previously subscribed email is entered it won't let them proceed to download.
We need to fix that and allow downloads for all, but only add new emails to the list.
